It certainly looks as though rotary lasers will be in good use over the next 12 months if the results of new research are to be believed. According to an American Express study, people will spend an average of £3,400 renovating their homes in the next 12 months.
In all, 33 per cent believe their properties
could do with a refresh, while 15 per cent say it’s because they’re house proud that they want to make changes at home. Naturally, DIY is at the heart of the matter, with 35 per cent saying they’ll be doing the work themselves, although 12 per cent will be asking friends and family for help.
So what are the most popular home improvements for 2016? It was found that structural changes like extensions are a likely project, followed by home repairs such as new doors and windows, soft furnishings, painting and decorating, new living room furniture, electronic entertainment, bedroom furniture, kitchen accessories, gardening materials and plants, and white goods.
If you are tempted to do a lot of the work on your house yourself, be mindful that a recent study by Aviva found that many homeowners
experience DIY nightmares, such as holes in walls, broken windows, ceilings coming down, spilled paint and burst pipes.
If you can afford to call out professional tradesmen who know what they’re doing with a rotating laser perhaps more so than you, it seems it would certainly be worth it. Otherwise, you could well find that you end up spending a lot more money than you had originally intended.
