A new research project has been launched by the UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC) to look into how the construction industry builds, designs and operates non-domestic structures.

alignment lasers and others, and behaviours
will be examined by the group, given the fact that there is a growing body of evidence showing a gap between the expected performance of a building and how it actually does perform once delivered and maintained over time.
Chief executive officer of UK-GBC Julie Hirigoyen noted that massive benefits where productivity, carbon and cost are concerned can be gained by focusing closer on how buildings perform as they're designed, constructed and operated.
The project is being sponsored by BuroHappold, with director of sustainability with the company Duncan Price adding: "Leading clients are looking beyond compliance to realising the multiple benefits of building performance including improved productivity, lower running costs and reduced environmental impact. This collaborative research will guide us all in how to achieve those benefits."
This comes after the construction sector committed to making huge carbon savings at Buildings Day, the official COP21 meeting led by French minister of ecology Ségolène Royal. All 74 national green Building Councils have now committed to pushing through Net Zero Carbon new building, as well as a refurbishment where energy efficiency is concerned of the existing building stock to help limit global temperature rises to two degrees.
Green building councils all over the world are also now committed to renovating, certifying or registering more than 1.25 billion sq m of green building space.
